What's New?
- Happy 8th Birthday to FAWA Site:The FAWA site has now been operating for eight years. You have all helped make it what it is today. If you have additional ideas, please contact Rob.
- Longest Hot Swap Ever Is Still In Process: My relief, AW1 (Ret.) Rob Bixby, is on station and we're executing a hot swap. Many thanks to Rob for stepping up to the plate! Of course, he could always use a helping hand in managing the site. Contact Rob at FAWA_Admin@comcast.net if you're that person. I've been proud to have launched this site nearly eight years ago in March 2000. From its initial start as a virtual AW Memorial to the creation of the plankholders's pages, then the gallery, job aids, patch boards, taps...et cetera...it has been a labor of love that I've enjoyed the undertaking. I can't express the gratification I receive when a family from an AW who has died discovers the site or when one of the original AWs find us. Rob has some great plans for the site and I look forward to the next block upgrade. Continue with us on this journey. My thanks, Rob, I stand relieved....Devo!
- 40th AW Rate Anniversary is in September, 2008: Looking for some enterprising active and reserve duty AWs to lead the effort for sponsoring a gather at NAS Jax. Daryl Currie is looking at holding some activity at the NAS Jax Yacht Club. I also encourage the creation of similar events at other major AW gathering spots. Please contact Rob if your interested.
- Support AWCS (Ret.) Dave "Devo" DeVarney in the American Heart Association Heartwalk: For the 3rd year in a row, Devo will be participating in the AHA Heartwalk on May 3, 2008. This year Devo will be walking for AWCS Todd Ethington, whom we lost last year to heart disease. It will be his pleasure to walk for you as well. To sponsor him, go to http://www.providenceheartwalk.org. Many thanks to AW1 Matt Russ II who has provided sponsorship for the 3rd year in a row. Click the find participant link on the left. After finding DeVarney, make sure you select the linked name for the WLED...Whole Life Support Team. Unfortunately electronic donations are limited to credit card/echeck in the minimum amount of $25. If you wish to give an offline donation, (every donation counts!!), contact Devo.
