AWC Tom Fletcher was my first Aircrew Division Chief and Ops Chief in VP-46 from 1978 to 1980. I deployed with him to Japan in 1979 and Iceland in 1980. He took good care of us AWs, and I especially remember how well he fed us in Iceland. Tom loved to cook and invent his own gourmet specialties. In Keflavik, the barracks had kitchen units in the center of the building. Tom would stock up on groceries and cook something different every day. He would make large quantities and invite any and all of us to sample his cuisine. He retired after that and moved to Arizona.
