I started my Navy Career In Nov. 1950 Company 50-560 San Diego. My first tour was aboard a DE 406 as a MM. I was supposed to have gone aviation but when Korea was on no Schools were available for my company except Hospital Corp.

I was discharged in 1954 since the Navy wouldn't let me change to aviation so I stayed out until I could re-enter as an E3 to AT school. I went to VS 21,VS 29, FAETUPAC, and VS 25, where I was promoted as one of the first AW Warrants. Then FAETUPAC, VF 211, VP46 and retirement in 1974 as a CWO3 but reverted for retirement.

The VF-211 tour was because the detailer said he couldn't find another Warrant Avionics to send and they were ready to deploy so I went on a 9 month tour aboard the Oriskany in a flight status. Hard to get your flight time in a single seat F-8. Lots of Helo time though.

Thelbert L. Hartley was my Senior Chief in VP 46 when I was Air Crew Officer. He passed away in Okla. City in 1998. I also served with Eddie Beauchamp and knew Gary Farmer. Kenneth Oyler was in FAETUPAC with me.

I have been in the Real Estate Business on Oklahoma City since retiring.
