Obituary:
CASPER -- Services for Gary Joe Hemmer, 53, will be held
Friday at 2 p.m. at Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery with the Rev. Leonard Robinson of the United Veterans Council officiating.
He died June 22, 1998, at the Veteran's Administration
Medical Center in Denver.
He was born in St. Joseph, Mo., on Oct. 25, 1944, and was
raised in Westminster, Colo.
He married Marjorie Sparks on Jan. 17, 1986, in Coos Bay,
Ore., and their combined families were blessed with seven
children.
He served his country faithfully for 30 years and retired
in 1993 as a Master Chief Petty Officer from the United
States Navy.
He was a life member of the VFW (Adak, Alaska chapter)
and the Hunting and Fishing Association. He was also a
member of Pathfinder Boat Club and the Fleet Reserve
Association.
Survivors include his wife of Casper and their seven
children, Brenda Smith, Portland, Ore.; Deanne Morgan,
Grants Pass, Ore.; Kenneth Fryman Jr., Cheyenne; David
Fryman, Marysville, Wash., Jason Fryman, Auburn, Wash.; his
father, Joe Hemmer of Modesto, Calif., and one brother,
Mitchell Hemmer, also of Modesto.
He is also survived by nine grandchildren, the 10th will
arrive in December; three daughters-in-law, one son-in-law,
two future daughters-in-law, several brothers and
sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and
friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Freida
Louise Hemmer.
