Three crewmembers die in helo crash

Memorial services were held Monday at the station chapel for three Navy helicopter crewmembers who were killed in a crash on June 24.  LT Walter S. Howdyshell, pilot; LT Richard A. Creighton, co-pilot; and AT2 Robert M. Emery, Jr., crewman, all of Air Test and Evaluation Squadron One, died when their SH-2F crashed on a runway here during a night training mission.

LT Howdyshell is survived by a wife and three children of California, Md., and parents of New Lexington, Ohio.  LT Creighton is survived by a wife and one child of Lexington Park, Md., and parents of Los Alamitos, Calif.  Petty Officer Emery is survived by a wife of Lexington Park, Md., and parents of Williams, Ore.  A board of naval inquiry is investigating the accident.
