- STANDARD FIRST AID TRAINING COURSE, 12081
- This course is probably no longer cited as a bib reference. I believe the course is now obsolete, but the following link provides standard first aid info.
- NAVY ELECTRICITY AND ELECTRONICS TRAINING SERIES, MAGNETIC THEORY, NEETS MOD 01
- NAVY ELECTRICITY AND ELECTRONICS TRAINING SERIES, MODULE 18, RADAR PRINCIPLES
- The NEETS CD-ROM should be located somewhere within your command if you're in a squadron.
- Check the bottom of the ESO in basket, the "tron" shop, or it might even be with your AMTS. If
- you can't find it or your out in the "boonies" on recruiting duty, try contacting NETPDTC for a
- copy. Also, an HTML version can be found at the Integrated Publishing web site. An alternate source of study material is the NAWC Pt Mugu EW and Radar Handbook
.

- AVIATION ASW OPERATOR 3 & 2 (U), MODULE 3-ESM AND IR, A60-03-45-90
- AVIATION ASW OPERATOR 3 & 2 (U) MODULE 4-FUNDAMENTALS OF ACOUSTIC ASW, A60-04-45-92 (U)
- I, Devo, was the author (or the blame) for this book. I intentionally wrote at least one chapter (possibly more) unclassified so that you could bring the chapter(s) home with you. Check the paragraph markings to determine which chapters are NOT classified. Coordinate with your security manager and you should be able to duplicate those pages for at home study. Ensure you chop off the overall book classification at the header and footer of each page..
- The above three AW manuals (formerly rate training manuals) are obviously classified. You may want to try these chapters of ATO1 Chapters 4 and 6 for information on ASW equipment, radar, and infrared systems. Use the Adobe Acrobat Select Text feature to paste selected portions into your training material documents.

NWPs/FXPs/and Allied Tactical Publications
These publications may be available either on the Navy Tactical Compendium (Series B) CD-ROM or through a secure server from a .mil or .gov domain by connecting to the Naval Warfare Doctrine Command SIPRNET site. For those of you stationed far away from access to classified publications, check around for a nearby military command and see if your command can negotiate to use their secure connection on a not-to-interfere basis. If you find an unclassified publication that is marked Distribution Statement A on the front, we may be able to make it more generally available depending upon the file size and file format. |
- OPERATIONAL BREVITY CODES, ACP 165(F)
- If you are unable to obtain ACP-165, the following link takes you to NWP 1.02.1 which
- provides Tactical Brevity Codes. This manual covers many brevity code words but generally not any
- that deal with ASW. The focus of the code words appear to be fighter community....but it's better
- than nothing at all!!!
- One recommendation is to cut and paste the web site document into a word processing
- application. You can then delete the brevity code words not normally associated with the AW
- community.

NAVAIR Technical Manuals
NAVAIR Tech manuals might be found at the NATEC web site. You must be connecting with either a .mil or .gov domain and must also request an account. Please let us know what success you have with this site. If you gain access to NATOPS manuals, you should verify that you have all applicable changes (

Instructions and Regulations
These files are in .pdf format. Because of sheer size of some of these files, you'll likely be pointed to the NEDS instructions web site. For example, the General NATOPS is 18.4 MB, the Personnel Security is 11.4 MB, and the Infosec is 8.4 MB file so unless you have significant storage capabilities and a high speed connection, it can be a frustrating effort downloading. Once you download, you can use the Acrobat Select Text function to grab the text and import it into a word processing application. That way you can grab the text specific to typical examination questions as determined by the Occupational Standards.

- If you feel like you need a little frustration, you might want to try accessing the BUPERS MILPERSMAN . If you get in...congrats. Alternately, try getting a hold of the CD. It may either be on your network at work or your PNs have it. I will need someone to use the Adobe Select Text function to paste the respective articles into a Word Document and then save it as an HTML format. Forward to me via email and I'll get the links established.
- Good luck with the BUPERS web site. These files are huge and seem to hang up my computer. May be a BUPERS server or a domain problem since I don't remember this problem accessing from a .mil domain. Talk to your PNs or Career Counselor, they probably have the CDs which you can extract specific info based on the guidance of the Advancement Handbook. Try this link for an older version of the NEC Manual . It is a little older than the current (they're updated quarterly) but should be more than sufficient to help you on the exam. You can either download a zipped version of the manual or access the part dealing with NECs (I believe it is Section IV). From there, go to the 7800 series NEC and copy and paste the data into another word processing application for more efficient study.

- An alternative source for visual lookout procedures, vessel recognition, and aircraft recognition is the Lookout Training Handbook, NAVEDTRA 12968. Use the outline view feature of Adobe Acrobat with the Bookmarks Tab selected to view the different sections. There are no aircraft recco slides in this manual.
Another possibility is the following link to FITCPAC
For aircraft recco you may want to try these links to Army aircraft recco slide cards Additionally, you can check Army FM 44-80 for visual aircraft recognition.

- FLEET OCEANOGRAPHIC AND ACOUSTIC REFERENCE MANUAL, RP 33
- The Reference Publication #33, RP33, Fleet Oceanographic and Acoustic Reference Manual has been updated and distributed in accordance with the Standard Navy Distribution List (SNDL) in compact disk (CD) format. The new document may be obtained by contacting the Matthew Fontaine Maury Oceanographic Library at Stennis Space Center, MS. The point of contact is Ms. Ann Loomis of NAVOCEANO Code N12 who may be reached at DSN 485-4017 or COM (228) 688-4017, FAX DSN 485-4191 or (228) 688-4191.
- The new document has been extensively revised with Chapter 8, Environmental Effects on Sound Propagation in Shallow Water, being added. The document received a METOC community wide input with several textual and figure updates within the various chapters. As reminder, RP33 is not for public release and thus must be kept at work and is restricted to DOD and DOD contractors for any distribution or release.
- An alternate source for oceanography info can be found by clicking the various Aviation Aerographer Training links on the Integrated Publishing web site.
